It has recently come to our attention that a number of our members have received communications from the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) regarding complaints that the health claims made on their websites are misleading and cannot be substantiated.

There are very clear guidelines regarding health related products and beauty products. The Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) publishes the CAP Code detailing what can and cannot be stated without substantiation. http://www.cap.org.uk/The-Codes/CAP-Code.aspx

We strongly suggest that you review these codes and revisit any claims on your websites to ensure compliance.

If you have used material provided by your supplier or are in any doubt about these claims contact your supplier and ask them to substantiate any claims they have made in their own literature.
